Minister says 30% marks should be earned by students in grade 4, 5 classrooms. Pilot projects for reforms will begin in 2025 for grades 1, 6 and 10. Education Minister Susil Premajayantha stated that according to the new education reforms, the entire score of the Grade 5 Scholarship Exam cannot be taken from the exam alone and 30 percent of the marks should be earned by students while studying in the classroom in Grade 4 and 5. The Minister said the class teacher was responsible for the relevant assessment and the supervision will be done by the school board. The Minister was speaking in a ceremony held to mark the handing over of the new building constructed at Dhammissara Vidyalaya in Nattandiya. He also said that pilot projects of new educational reforms will begin next year (2025) for grades 1,6 and 10. In the first week of July, steps will be taken to provide about 2,500 graduate teacher appointments in mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology in all three languages, and for technology subjects as well as foreign languages.
