National Colleges of Education admissions in October...

Students who passed A/Ls in 2019, 2020 eligible;
Gazette revised for admission of 2021 batch;

Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha told Parliament yesterday (20) that the admission of students who passed the Advanced Level in 2019 and 2020 to the Colleges of Education will be carried out in October.

The Minister also stated that the Gazette notification for the admission of the 2021 batch to the Colleges of Education will be revised and issued within the next two to three weeks.

The Minister said this while replying to the question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya Matale District MP Rohini Kaviratne.

The Minister said that the list of admission of 7,400 students from the 2019, 2020 batch for Education colleges is published on the Ministry website and students will be enrolled to all the 19 Colleges.

The Minister stated that the evaluation of answer papers of the second year exams of the Education Colleges is going on and the new batch will be recruited immediately after the completion of the evaluation process. The Minister also said that there are two groups in the Education Service and the Secretary has recently discussed those two groups and reached a policy decision.

Minister Premajayantha said that the report of the sub-committee on updating the National Education Policy Plan will be submitted to Parliament and adopted as a National Education Policy after the Cabinet approves it.

The Minister also said that after adopting the sub-committee report, all parties and Opposition should work together to implement it in the country in the next few months.

The Minister said this while replying to the question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya Ratnapura District MP Hesha Withanage.

The Minister said that the National Education Commission was established in 1988 and presented policy statements regarding education from time to time and that the President appoints this commission according to the National Education Commission Act.

The Minister also said that the National Education Commission will present a national education policy by updating it from time to time after considering researches, surveys, education promotions in the world, every four years.

The Minister also said that the National Education Policy of the Commission will be presented to the President and after the Commission submits and approves the policy statement to the Cabinet, it will be given to the Minister in charge of the subject to implement it.
